Nelly’s Campaign
Nelly was a participant in the Roll A Hippo Foundation’s Food Security Training Program. In the final training session of the program, Nelly took an opportunity to address the group, and share how the program had positively impacted her livelihood.
The Food Security Training Program was a beacon of light for Nelly and offered an opportunity for her to help restore her community, not only by increasing her own knowledge in gardening, and contributing to the food security of the region, but by taking it a step further. Nelly started as a program participant, but then took on the role of Co-Facilitator, providing support to Iris with the implementation of the training program.
As the program reached its conclusion, Nelly was so inspired by the work being done, and the impacts it was having on beneficiaries, that she wanted to keep the momentum going, and created a new project to help raise funds for 200 more hippo rollers for her community. This campaign is currently underway, and is being spearheaded by Nelly with the support of local community members.
